If you are under 18 years old and want an abortion, one parent or legal guardian must give permission before you can get one. This is called "parental consent," and it's the law in Tennessee. If that’s not possible, you are able to ask a judge for permission, or get special permission if it’s an emergency. This is called "judicial bypass." You do not need your parent's consent to get a judicial bypass -- the whole point of a judicial bypass is that a judge signs the consent forms instead of your parents, allowing you to get an abortion without your parents ever finding out. Basically, a judicial bypass works like this: if a minor wants an abortion and lives in a state that requires parental consent before she can get one, she can go before a judge. The judge will then decide whether or not it is in the young woman's best interests to obtain an abortion without her parents knowing because of physical or emotional abuse. To find out more about judicial bypass and how to get one, call or visit your local Planned Parenthood health care center. The people at Planned Parenthood are extremely kind, helpful individuals -- they will make sure you get the services you need. There are three Planned Parenthood locations in Tennessee, here are their addresses and phone numbers: 710 North Cherry St. Knoxville, TN 37914 p: 865.694.7155 1407 Union Ave, Suite 300 Memphis, TN 38104 p: 901.725.1717 412 Dr. D.B. Todd, Jr. Blvd. Nashville, TN 37203 p: 615.321.7216 Hope that helped! Best of luck with everything! :)

I can't help on the front of telling you where to go as I live in the UK but what I will say is that whatever you decide must be entirely your own choice. Do what is best for your own future, and that of the child. If you know that you could not take care of a baby and could not face adoption then that leaves few other options. I would suggest talking to your parents if you can. Often the reaction you receive is not the one you expect and although they may be a little disappointed in you at first, you are their daughter and their love for you is likely to be unconditional. For the information you require, your family doctor is the best person to visit. They should be able to counsel you through whichever path you choose and also help you to understand all of your options. I wish you the best of luck but urge you to be more responsible in future until you feel you are ready for a child.

I'd try planned parenthood, if there is a clinic in KC. They actually need volounteers every now and then to counteract protesters--like walk patients to their cars, set up peremeters, etc.

NY Times Editorial Calls for Law forcing Health Care workers to proform abortions: Is this Constitutional?

Under 18 free abortion--California?
I'm not sure if Planned Parenthood actually gives abortions, but they will give you completely free consultation and will be able to help weigh your options. Although you really should tell your parents. They have a right to know what their daughter is doing in her spare time (i.e. having unsafe...
