OK, Will Slug. Would love to see your data sources. Here they are from the Center for Disease Control for 2004, the last year for which a report is available. African Americans: 472 abortions for every 1000 live births. Whites: 162 abortions for every 1000 live births. So the actual statistics make your point that abortion is much higher among African American women than among white women. But your statistics? 3/4's of black babies are aborted? 1/3rd of white babies are aborted? The real statistics are bad enough. Here's the actual data from the statistical abstract of the United States. The data are for 2003, which is the last year for which data are available: African Americans and "other" races: 395 abortions for every 1000 live births plus abortions. Whites: 181 abortions for every 1000 live births plus abortions. This "government" data actually comes from the Guttmacher Institute, a private group that consistently finds higher abortion rates than the CDC. Call it genocide or infanticide or any other incendiary name you like, but do you really think abortions will stop when they are illegal? Or will they just be performed badly? Also, remember that Obama wants to reduce abortions. He just doesn't want to try to reduce them using the law. And why is the abortion of a white baby not genocide? Is there a racial litmus test or an acceptable threshold to genocide? Republicans held both the White House and Congress for 6 years and passed only one anti-abortion law: the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003. Where was the courage of the Congress to force the issue back to the Supreme Court by passing a law banning all abortions except for risks to the health of the mother, rape, and incest. Republicans may have won that fight after the Roberts and Alito confirmations, and they certainly would have forced every branch of the federal government to take a stand even if they had lost in a Senate filibuster or a court fight. Don't blame Obama for his position on abortion and then let every pro-life Senator and Congressman off the hook. At least Obama stands behind his convicitions.

Row V. Wade states that it is a woman's personal choice to have an abortion. Being my choice I would never have an abortion, but it is a personal decision every woman has to make for herself. There have been abortions performed since my Great Grandmother's time, and long before that. The choice is not made for the woman, but by her. Row V. Wade just took the issue out of the back room and put it in the living room. Out of a dirty bed room into a Clinic. It must be a very difficult decision to make, but it is their personal choice to make. I don't think it is genocide when the choice is the woman's to make. This is not a racial issue but a woman issue. Personal Responsibility. Many may regret their choice, be it having an abortion or not having it. We all do what we feel is best for us at the time we make our decisions. It's not a decision any woman does without much thought, Row V. Wade or not.

So what do you mean by that, what are you getting at? Who are you blaming for this? Obviously there's quite a number of whites being aborted also. What did that statistical abstract say about the number of white women having abortions? That abstract, or another one like it, stated that white women are having less than the required 2.2 babies per couple to sustain a population. Black women are over that number, but Hispanic women are way over that 2.2 requirement. So its the whites that are dropping in population, blacks are still gaining and hispanics are way ahead.

Please! The abortion rate has not changed. Less mothers DIE from abortions when it is done by a doctor. There used to be abortionists in every town practically just like there is in South America where it is illegal. Women died regularly or were made infertile. You need to put that into your calculations. In the 50s and 60s blacks were better off as a whole and had more stable families...didn't we all! The country was more rural and also tended to have gardens so income level did not necessarily equate with hunger and poverty. Many current black leaders came from poor but not economically unstable families. There were different measures of wealth. Doctors did house-calls. At one time my mother was a single woman with 5 kids and we could afford to have doctors stop by when there were more than one kid with the mumps. The doctors lived down the block in a better house but not by much. They were still middle class. I will have to check your figures because something smells wrong about them. I don't think that abortions are available and affordable for many people but could be wrong. EDIT! Goes to show that you should look stuff up before you waste time answering Q's like yours! You were pulling those numbers out of your a$$!! Checked the CDC sites (.gov not a blog!) Get real!

Actually your statistics are incorrect. The number of White pregnancy terminations is substantially higher that the Black totals. the total number of African American population is over 20%. McCain wants to stop the genocide of abortion for all Americans, regardless of race creed, color, religion, or national origin. Just like his republican predecessor Abraham Lincolon. McCain is no where near "another Bush". He is more like original republican party that set the slaves free. If you want to link McCain to any other president, it would be more accurate to say he was a continuation of the Lincolon presidency. So maybe we need another 4 years of Abraham Lincolon. I certainly wouldn't mind.

Shouldn't this be in the math section... Ahh heck I'll give it a go. There are approximately 1.37 million ie 1.37*10^6 abortions per year in the United States. Now based off your statistics.. which I have no clue as to whether they are accurate or made up. Personally I don't care. Anyway... 75 percent of 1.37*10^6 is 1.028 *10^6. Now the population of the U.S. is around 301,139,947. 12.6 percent of that is about 37.94 *10^6. Subtract 1.028 *10^6 and you get 36.91*10^6 which is 12.2% of the population. That of course is an approximation. However it is no where near enough to noticeably lower my taxes.

Could you post a link for your source? Because while I couldn't find a link to 2007 statistics every other year I found showed that about 55% of abortions were from white girls and 35% from black. So a source would be nice. It's usually the little rich white girls that try and hide it from mommy and daddy right?

I'm surprised I don't read this kind of comment more often. Why doesn't it matter to most folks, that the founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, was a racist? She advocated 'negative eugenics', as did the Nazi's, and with this goal in mind, she founded the Planned Parenthood organization. Her racist plan has had the desired affect. Sick really. And the Dems are the political wing of the killers at Planned Parenthood. ---------------------- Edit: Freakenomics has some problems with its numbers. Poorly developed arguments that have been shown to be bogus. Not that facts matter anymore.

You've interpreted the numbers wrong. What it means is 75% of abortions are by black mothers (who may be carrying a mixed race child.) and even that isn't accurate because that would mean that nobody of any other race ever had an abortion... I think they may be dividing just by white/non-white in those numbers.
