Has anyone ever had a second trimester abortion?

I had a friend who had the procedure done, but during the first trimester. She said it was very painful and she did bleed for about 6 weeks after wards. They will give her some kind of pain medication during the procedure but it won't knock her out. And it could affect her ability to get pregnant in the future. The bottom line is, any time you have any procedure done involving your uterus and reproductive organs, you run the risk of creating scar tissue down there. That tissue could prevent eggs from moving through her fallopian tubes or implanting into her uterus later, should she decide to try and have children. Why don't the two of you talk to a medical doctor, not a clinic aid, or a counselor about this. Maybe consider some other options, like adoption. You could even pick the parents!

Having an abortion is one of the hardest things to go thru emotionally. You need to be aware that your girlfirend will NEVER be the same. She will regret this and hate you for it . Trust me (personal exp) As with all abortion procedures they all have risks and some people are never able to have children again due to the operation having complication which are more common than they tell you, it can also lead to increase chance of fututre miscarriage and other problems like scarring internally of the uterus ( womb) and she might even have reaccurring pain forever like a friend of mine. Another friend has an incompetent cervix and has LOST A BABY at 25 weeks because of a past abortion leading to cervix problems. When they dialate her your girlfriends body isnt ready for it yet because its too early in the pregnancy and it will change her body forever. Why couldnt you just step up and be a man and save her from a lifetime of hate and grief and regret.??????? Thats what I ask you. Her body will need at least 6 weeks to recover and possibly longer before you can have sex as her body will be messed up. Emotionally she will NEVER recover. Please remember this....... There is a lot of pain....ALOT they put you to sleep for it becuase they tear open your cervix and pull out your baby tearing it into pieces, it tears away at the lining of the uterus causing internal scarring that will never heal. She will then bleed for about 6 weeks straight and be in a lot of physical pain when she wakes up it is never worth it

1) Yes, both both physically and emotionally 2) the rest of your life 3) Extreme pain when you realize you have killed your child. There are soooo many ppl out there that would love to have a baby to love and you just want to kill yours. It's sad and sick. 15 weeks "Your baby is growing at an amazing rate and looking more like a human every day. Because your baby's skin is so thin, you are able to see blood vessels through the skin. Lanugo hair covers your baby's body, but it will be gone when your baby is born. The hair on the eyebrows and head continues to grow. Some babies are born with little or no hair and others have a head full of hair! If you have an ultrasound at this point, you might be able to see your baby sucking its thumb. Even though the eyes continue to move to the front of the face, they are still widely separated. Your baby's ears look like normal ears and continue to develop externally. The bones that have already formed continue to get harder and retain calcium. The baby is very mobile and flexible at this point. She can bend her arms at the elbows and wrists and she can also make a fist with her hands. " http://www.i-am-pregnant.com/pregnancy/c...

WHAT??? Is your friend aware that her baby is just that - a baby, a person who is capable of moving around inside of her? Sorry, I think this is wrong wrong WRONG! It is too far along - this baby will feel everything and it is a clear cut case of murder. I am not sure of the pain level for your friend but there is sure to be a lot of pain for the baby. Abortion is not birth control - your friend should have thought about that. I really hope she does not go ahead with it and if you did not want answers like this then perhaps don't post the questions that will get such answers. Edited to say - this message makes me want to cry and cry for your baby and what it is about to go through and the opportunities he or she will miss out on. Oh so sad that you can not wait and adopt the child out if you do not want it, to a family that will love and nuture it. I can not stop thinking about it.

I had mine around 10 weeks, and you bleed for about a week. 6 weeks is stretching it, you bleed that long after giving birth to a full term baby. No, your chances are not less likely to pregnant in the future. Going through with the birth of the child, is acutally more risky than aborting. They don't want you to know that part, and the clinics are obligated to try to convince you against one and to warn you of the effects, but they don't give you the whole truth, or more people would be getting them. It is relatively painless, and doesn't even compare to giving birth to a child. Consider that. It feels like a period, and it feels crampy because your cervix opens up to let out some blood. (That is the cause of cramps in periods.) Good luck, and don't worry. She will be fine, and able to have a baby when she is READY.

I never have. Is she unable to continue the pregnancy and give it up for adoption? I'm pro-choice, but I think second trimester abortions are hard for everyone involved. Good luck to you two. I hope you make the right decision that you can live comfortably with.

no offense but the second trimester is even worse i had an ex friend have one and they make you give birth after killing the baby, i dont want togo into more detail because the thought of it is nauseating, please have her rethink adoption at this point!

1) Yes this will compromise your friends chances of having a successful pregnancy in the future. 2) I am sure as like any Abortion it will be very painful. Hopefully they do not give her too much pain medication and it will be very painful so she can experience a little of what the baby is feeling and will think twice about having unprotected sex again so she doesn't have to murder more then one baby.
