As a non-practicing Catholic, I was raised to believe that abortion is wrong as abortion is murder, and I wouldn't choose it for myself and I would do my best to talk any person close to me out of having one. My daughter was raped four years ago (date rape) and she was in fear for a while that she may have been pregnant and she was telling me that if she was pregnant that she was going to get an abortion, no two ways about it, and at the time I was trying to talk to her into considering adoption, as many people out there would give their right arm and their right leg for a baby, as adoptions (especially white babies) are quite scarced in the United States. With that said however, criminalizing abortion is not the answer. Such a decision is a very personal one, and I don't think it is my place to tell anyone else what to do. Chances are that I may have never walked in their shoes and I shouldn't judge them for the decisions they may have to make. Many are under enough pressure without more being added. Also, anyone who wants to have an abortion will have one regardless of the written laws, and if they do, it would be better that they have a safe one, than to go behind an alley and have it performed by someone without a skill with a coat hanger. In conclusion, I'm pro-life for myself and those closest to me, and I'm pro-choice as far as society at large.

My thoughts on abortion isn't whether people are right or wrong. The ones who have abortions know what is in their hearts and will be judged accordingly, not by society, but by God. My concerns with the abortion issue is that it is nothing more than a political smoke screen. The republican party relies on this issue for many, many votes. I've heard these great wonderful christian republicans freak out if a child is on welfare--"...those dirty no good kids getting tax dollars spent on them--why they should get a job! Yes, even if they are 2 years old, we don't want them to get food stamps or medical care because they are freeloaders. Why, we don't care if they die!" Yet, when it comes to abortion, these wonderful, caring christians come out of every hole in the ground to put money up so their party will win--so as to stop killing. What this tells me is they care if a fetus dies, but they don't care if a small child dies of hunger, health problems or anything else after being able to feel pain and mental pain. Pardon me, but I care about the ones that are living too. Also, you can forget about the republican party ever doing anything about abortion. What has dubya done thus far? When it comes election time, though, look out --all churches and media-- abortion just became the most important issue ever! It makes me sick.

It's right because it has to be. It is wrong to force a woman to have a child. It's her body and until that child is separate from her body, it doesn't have any rights. It just can't. A woman has access to birht control, yes, but it doesn't always work that way. The man who impregnated her didn't wear a condom. Should he be forced by law to be equally responsible for the child (not just monetarily, but emotionally? Be forced to live with that child 24/7, etc)? Of course not, that's inhumane. But the woman HAS to have the baby? That's 9 months of her life! Just because a woman is the one who carries the child, doesn't mean she doesn't deserve the same rights as the man, who is just going to walk away and take no part in it. Abortion is a medical procedure, that's it. How would you feel if you couldn't get a medical procedure you wanted because some people didn't agree? I don't think breast augmentation or lyposuction is a good idea in any situation. I also don't think that IVF if moral. But I would never wish to restrict other people's access to breast implants and alternative fertility treatments. It isn't my place nor my job to decide what is best for everyone. I have my beliefs and keep them to myself. The same is true for abortion. It's a human right to have access to it.

I might make a case for abortion in the incredibly rare case that it's absolutely certain that both woman and child will die if there is no abortion and fairly certain that the woman will live if there is one. I don't even know if such an extream case could exist. But I'm against murder, nomatter who the victim's parents are. At the person above me: I think a father SHOULD be forced to take care of his son or daughter unless he's a criminal bastard who deserves to be locked up for life.

Strong mixed feelings about it.I lost a baby years ago and my situation was that I didn't have a chioce(raped),I decided to keep the baby, only to lose him to stillbirth.I think it depends on the situation, like in rape or incest I would never condem a woman or girl for choosing abortion..to me it is crueler to force her to carry that life inside and be responsible for something she had no choice over, forced on her.If she chose to keep the baby anyway I would applaud her,but I personally found it hard for me...my blame rests on the man in the end not what resulted...in the case of life threatening/severe deformity again it's personal. But to have an abortion because one didn't use birthcontrol and had ooportunity and access to it is wrong to me,then it's murder. It's such an touchy subject,I personally couldn't bring myself to have one.I'm not sure if faced with the simular situation I'd be able to make the same choice again or not.I just don't know,in some cases I think it would be in the best intersts of the mother to have one,but ultimately it has to be her choice.

I don't understand why most of the people are using the Bible and religion to answer a question like this one... it's like they don't' have their own brains to think. Is it really your problem if a woman chooses from different reasons to have an abortion? Think about women who are raped by their own husbands, who are victims of domestic violence, who are beaten in front of their children, who are raped by their own relatives... can they for once decide what is happening to them? It is a very complicate issue and is definitely not black and white, like somebody says... mind your own business! I would add... there are so many wrong things going on in the world, wars that kill millions of people and it is comfortable for you sitting in front of the computer to judge other people and to impose your belief system on them. Oh, and one more thing... take an anatomy book and read it! A few cells dividing cant' be called "a baby".

is it okay w/God to kill an unborn child? NO but part of christianity and our divine creation is the will to choose the right to choose should be legal just like any other form of surgery unless you can get everyone to see it as murder. the problem is that science cannot prove that we are a life before we are out of the womb and this world is controlled by money, politics, and science. If a tree has a right not to be cut down even though it has no free will then i say an a child in the womb has the right to be born without the threat of being killed. The logical answer to unwanted pregnancy is don't have sex. and if you do have sex then accept the fact that there are risks and be prepared to take responsibility for your actions not erase your consequenses

There are many false prophets answering your question. The truth is that no where in the Bible does it say that Abortion is wrong. And in fact God himself uses abortion every day. Only by deceit and trickery can anyone claim that abortion is denied by the Bible. Deuteronomy 18:20-22 20 But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded him to say, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, must be put to death." 21 You may say to yourselves, "How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the LORD ?" 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him. Jeremiah 23:30-32 30 "Therefore," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from me. 31 Yes," declares the LORD, "I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare, 'The LORD declares.' 32 Indeed, I am against those who prophesy false dreams," declares the LORD. "They tell them and lead my people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them. They do not benefit these people in the least," declares the LORD. . I can explain abortion to any person able to understand. I cannot explain it to a Dog, Cat, or closed mind. God is the inventor of abortion. Presumably God uses miscarriage as abortion to expel from a woman's body a fetus that he chooses not to bring to term. God does this service for all animals, not just humans. And God loves these animals and man when he chooses to abort their fetus. For man, God is capable of giving eternal life in exchange for any child, fetus or man that he takes. This is his eternal love for us. God arranged things such that no man lives longer than 150 years, then his time is up and he is also offered eternal life. So God offers eternal spiritual life in exchange for death. And God chooses which fetuses will be aborted. God has infinite power and can choose to eliminate the possibility of abortion and force the birth of any child he chooses. He does this with other animals and he states in the Bible that he is an all powerful God. He is that powerful. If you abort a child that God wants to live, he can simply transfer that life to another person. It does not mean that you made a wrong choice or that God must live with that Choice. I don't think God would allow Christ’s next coming to be stopped by an abortion that he condones. Can a person commit an abortion against God's will? Yes. And it would be sin committed under our Free Will. Evidence shows that many miscarried fetuses are malformed. And others are perfect. So we know that God does not use simply malformation as the basis for abortion. God must use other information. For example, God may know that a person is simply not ready for a child. Or the person may not be able to support a child. Or the child may have been born out of wedlock. Or that another person should raise the soul that he has placed in one person. And there are thousands of other reasons that God may have chosen abortion or miscarriage. One thing is certain- God did not choose "life". Some of us will die before birth and for none of us will live after 150 years of living. What God teaches through abortion is that there are reasons for man to have abortion. And in the long run God teaches that these reasons make the world a better place. I believe that a person should pray to God if there is any chance that an abortion is needed for any of the reasons above, or no reason. If God says that it is right, then it cannot be wrong. And anyone that says otherwise is going against God's will. Simply ask yourself if all humans that were ever born were still here today, would the Earth be a better place. I think not. Death is a part of God's plan and it makes his Kingdom a better place- as does eternal life for those who have served God’s purpose. I hope that you are able to understand the need and purpose of abortion and will not fall into the beliefs of the false prophets that preach the Pro-Life anti God line. If you have more questions please ask.

We have to understand where the life starts. Vedic Literature states that if a conception is supposed to be fruit-full, then the Soul enters the womb, and that very instance and Life Starts. So to Abort is to Kill a Human. Now you tell me if its right to kill a Human? Humans are not Bunch of Chemicals as Atheist would propose, whose existence or destruction does not matter.... Law of Karma States that If you Kill a person in the womb then you will be killed in the same way... and you will not get to see the light of the Day for many many years... Think if your mother would have thought about the same thing for you .... what would you have suggested ?

Every ponder if we could've changed history by allowing the 50 million aborted babies to live?
Again I see so many who answer thinking of only themselves yet they are alive and would not be willing to face their doom being torn to pieces. Whether you believe in God or not, its not about you. It is not a matter of your life or who's baby it is. Its about the life that is inside of you...

What is an incomplete abortion?
It happens. For other examples of this, see: http://members.tripod.com/~joseromia/sur... People need to remember that abortion is known as a "blind procedure." The doctor cannot see into the womb as he cuts and scrapes out the child. Sometimes this results in a punctured uterus, a damaged...

Question to people who are Pro-Choice Abortion?
Abortion is legal because history has taught us that women will kill themselves and sometimes end up giving birth to profoundly disabled babies when the law forces them to abort illegally. No one is "Pro-Abortion". So, stop being nasty. A fetus is not a baby. There is no murder or killing taking...

Abortion Pill -- RU-486?
No, it's just an internal classification system used by researchers when testing drugs. They probably also tested chemicals labeled RU-487 and RU-485. Medicine has plenty of acronyms, but that's not one of them. RU-486 is mifepristone, which inhibits the action of progesterone required...

Necessary abortion, Christian perspective.?
I never considered that anyone would have a problem with the circumstances you just described. Good question, I'd love to hear the answers. As an Atheist who abhors the idea of abortion, I would never even consider having a problem with those situations. If you were interested.
